So here are the answers from different peoples across the globe:
I am a branch manager of an Indian Public Sector Bank which is also one among the top 50 banks of the world. If you ask my in hand salary, you will laugh at me. Please don't be surprised if I tell CEO of my bank, one of the most influential personality of the business world of my country earns the salary of just below ₹ 25 lacs in a year. If you count my CTC, it may go up to 5 times of the salary. My in hand salary forms a small part in my CTC.
My previous month's salary credit to my account is just ₹ 35400. That is the in hand salary I am getting after 6 years of experience. But I am not poorly paid. This in hand salary is after deduction of income tax, my contribution to PF( 10% of the basic), NPS(10% of the gross), EMI of interest free festival advance(10% of gross), EMI of car loan. My company also contributes same amount to PF and NPS which is not shown in my salary slip. I also get house rent on actual basis ranging from ₹ 8000 in villages to ₹ 25000 in cities. I get broadband and mobile bill reimbursement. So I never need to pay for them from my pocket. Company gives money to purchase mobile once in a three years. I get money for buying newspapers, in which I can buy 4–5 news papers every day. I get money for maid (may not be sufficient) and cleaning materials to keep my house to clean. Most importantly, I get 75 to 90 Ltrs of petrol depending area I am working. Also, I get money to go for a long tour with my family once in 4 years. I get almost 100% of my medical bills reimbursed without any limit, many times it goes cash less. So, I don't need to bother about my inhand pay mentioned in the Salary Slip, it is nothing but savings.
Finally, the CEO of my company’s official residence is very near to official residence of Governor of Maharashtra. I heard the total area is bigger than the Rajbhavan compound. In hand salary of the CEO is less than 2 lacs a month!!!
(The salary of every officer of my company is available at the official website under the link Directory and Gross Emoluments of staff. So, my salary details were already in public domain as per Proactive Disclosure under Section 4(1) (b) of RTI Act, 2005.)
I think the spirit of the question was to understand how did I reach wherever I am today. I am not gonna tell my salary. Glassdoor is an excellent place to find that. But I am gonna tell the story of my journey, embrace yourself :)
Act 0: (College) I graduated out of a good Indian college in 2007, not IIT or NIT but a good regional college. I studied in one of the least desirable branches of engineering possible, no job in the core field.
Got campus selected on Day 1 of placement in one of the largest Indian MNC I.T. companies (who have a huuge training facility in Mysore!!)
Starting salary 2.7 L p.a. Could not have been happier.
Act 1: Finished 5.5 months of Java/J2EE training. Moved to Bangalore In Feb 2008 and joined a project immediately..
I worked extremely hard, many times I go to office on monday morning and come back on Friday evening. Many days work till 3–4 AM, sleep in the office dorm or on desk and again back to work on next day 9 AM.
My task: Two projects: One was Java coding. Another was on a large telecom 15 years or more old Software with 1000 other people and my only job was to follow instructions to the dot.
March 2009. Have been working on the project for a year now. One day my badge does not work and I have to tailgate to get in.
Went to my desk and find it is cleared. None of my stuff is there, my name badge is gone. I stand there perplexed for a long time.
Finally around 1030 or 11 the manager comes in and he calls me to a room. He tells me I have been kicked out of the project because I am incompetent. My quality of work is horrible, make too many mistakes, cannot follow instructions, below quality coder and debugger.
1st job, 1st project, in front of all your friends (I used to live with two project mates) I was kicked out without any prior notice because I suck. Think of the humiliation, indignity I had to endure that day and the weeks to follow. And that too in a company not known to hire the brightest people, does the most mediocre back office kind of work (no disrespect to anyone here), and I was deemed incompetent even by that standards.
I was never able to tell my parents.
I managed to find another project within a month, work was to compare and fill spreadsheets. I was too sick and tired of the large IT MNC culture.
Act 2 :Against advice of all my parents, relatives, friends I left the company in 2009. I joined a 6 people startup out of IIT KGP for 2.4 lakhs.
You read that right. I took a Pay cut, to get out of my dream job.
The startup grew fast. From KGP dorm to Kolkata with seed funding and by 2010 it got series A and moved to Bangalore.
By end of 2010 I was interviewing IITians for campus placement and by 2011 had more than 20 people report upto me. But then I realized I am not a great manager, so I will be stuck at mediocre level again.
So I decided to do something different. Salary has grown to more than 3X compared to where I started there 2 years back.
Act 3: Joined a US startup’s Bangalore office as a customer facing engineer in 2011. Got a decent hike - 20-25%.
Had 40 or so people when I joined. Grew over the next few years and hit around 250 or so employees by 2014.
By 2014 my salary has increased decently as well. Company asked me to move to NY, and I did. I started working as a customer engineer in NY for them.
Act 4: 2016 I joined Google. Total Pay package, including Stocks is :)
I did not put my Google salary because I have never been motivated by salary. Itshould not matter how much I earn. What matters is the journey. I often wonder that hardly 8 years back I was told that I am incompetent in a very very mediocare company which employs hundreds of thousands of people and today I work for Google. I work with Fortune 100 companies training/educating them about the future of the technology world.
My biggest takeaway? "Everybody is a Genius. But If You Judge a Fish by Its Ability to Climb a Tree, It Will Live Its Whole Life Believing that It is Stupid"
I am a very ordinary software engineer, I am a pretty good customer engineer.
I suck at following orders, I am awesome at explaining complex problems.
I am not very creative at software debugging but I am an great in creative solving of real life customer problems.
Thankfully I realized that, played a big gamble, acted upon it and it worked.

Straight answer. If that really matters.
I started job with 5K INR per month salary and currently earn 4L INR per month with 6.5 years of experience, approximately 48L per annum + stocks and bonus which make it around 70L per annum. Currently lives in Europe.
However if somebody is interested to know how do I ended up here, Read on:
I am not from any IIT or NIT, Only a Computer science Engineering degree from private college with 60% (loads of backlogs, detained for 6 months, and a year drop in school, passed out in 2nd division).
What made me different:
I was quite sure what I wanted to do with my career, all education till university I was basically just surviving for the sake of degree.
Wait..How can you be sure what’s right for your career at the initial stage?
- I did internship with some IT company, while I was in college, every year 1 month break and I am out to some company or institution to learn something new. I took advice from seniors and found mentors for life. So you need a mentor in your life to learn about good things in earlier age.
- a foolish learn from his own experience but a wise man learn from others.
- I always knew I am good with computers and was interested to learn real complexity of OS, this leads me towards learning Linux, I learned it in college days. If you are not sure about interest, try things and fail fast just to be sure about your interest.
- Follow YOUR interest, not other’s.
- I was not able to sit into any campus placement due to lower marks in academia, they all wanted at least 60% marks, I didn't had that. We are NOT just numbers or grades, and if anybody is judging you just by that, there is no harm leaving them behind.
My First Job and initial career:
My addiction with Linux landed me entry level job with 5K INR per month,(even before degree in my hand)
I Remember my first day at job when my senior at client location took me to 1 of the DC in front of a server rack and said “This is your rack with 8 new brand new servers, SAN and network switches. You basically need to configure 4 HA metrocluster for internal mail, website and LDAP. We are not sure how but we will figure that out.” Quite interesting project for a fresher, with top-class exposure.
With great Power comes great Responsibilities:
Amidst of project some other engineer left project and I got all responsibilities to deliver this project. I started countless hours in designing infrastructure plans and present it to higher authorities. Once approved I started writing code for automated service infrastructure deployments.
I can bet “No big MNC” would have given me such opportunities to define a new infrastructure for a Public sector Govt company. So not getting into any MNC during my college time was actually part of a bigger plan.
Life surprises you with small failures and big opportunities, Your part is just to roll-in and never lose hope.
I finished project in 6–8 months and moved on further to a govt job. In 6 month or so I realized I am not doing what I wanted to do, So I resigned and join private sector assignment as R&D engineer for a telco company as individual contributor.
Salary: 30K INR Per month.
Experience: 1.5 Yrs.
Benefits: Individual contributor. Work on own pace, more time to learn and study and then apply. I wrote some low level C programs to play around with my new work in progress HA cluster. That was fun. A large Telco company still uses that solution.
Once I finished that project and involved into another project for another 6–7 months and then joined another startup company as system engineer for their internet operations. Python, linux and networking skill combination helped me to excel in my job. Spent another 2 yr with that company.
So far, almost 5 yrs in industry, salary 50K per month, Nothing fancy.
Return favour to community and help people who are in need:
Took a 6 month break for freelance teaching work and spent authoring a video course for free to help people learn linux.
During this I received an Interview call for a big 4 tech company in Europe. I interviewed there and decided to join company to see other side of world . Currently working with same company for almost 2 yrs. Happy with my work and pay here.
Did anybody asked about your academia?
No, nobody asked about my academia,They just care about your industry experience, quick learn ability, your presence of mind and Industry certifications (Nice to have, not mandatory.)
Current Situation:
Lives in Europe. Work with a Technology giant. Earn 4L per month. Was a student, always a student.
Lesson I learned from various sources:
- Never stop learning. Read people around you. FInd more about your field. Learn from seniors, expert of your field. Spend some time alone.
- Find a mentor, find inspiration, celebrate life. Robin Sharma inspired me at various phases of life.
- Life sometime hits you really hard, I see some hard time when I failed at school, when I had lots of backlog in my university time, when I was detained in my college for 6 months due to poor academia, when I failed my interviews at dream companies. Its good to fail fast and prepare for better. Learn lesson and Rise up.
- Life has big plans for you, never lose the hope, I had tears in my eyes when none of the companies allowed me to sit in campus placement, I saw my friends getting selected and they forever changed after that. The only thing they had for me was sympathy.
- You will have your chance at least once in life, just wait and prepare for that big day.
Believe in yourself. Be ready to cope your worst situation alone. You are the only your hope and survival.
Let me tell you about my salaries in different companies and how I got huge hike in my salary suddenly.
1st job - Sal - 5K per month - PHP developer in very small company
Here I worked for about 2 years
2nd Job - 30 K per month - Hadoop developer in Cognizant
Let me tell you how I got hike from 5K to 30K. As I was not having much task to do in PHP in my company, I decided to switch my domain and company. As Big Data is the most booming now, I decided to learn it and start my career in it.
I took online training from DataFlair, learnt the technology in very detailed manner, did real time projects there and showed them in my resume. To my good luck, within a month I was able to crack the interviews and start my career in this field with a very good hike as mentioned.
Now I have completed about 3 years in this technology and getting hikes regularly. Now my current package is more than double of the salary that I received while starting my career in Hadoop.
PS. - You can contact me at patodiromit@gmail.com for career guidance if you want similar hike.

Rs 50,550 per month. I am a fresher and I completed my MBA in March 2017.
My story:
Bachelors in Science from the best college of Delhi university. Despite being 2nd in my batch, did not get a campus placement as placements were only for B.Com and Eco grads and that too with a low salary (8k to 20k). People aspiring to join Delhi university, PLEASE plan for higher studies as the jobs you get in Delhi University placements are dead end jobs mostly.
Then I took a break for a year and prepared for C.A.T. That was the best decision of my life and I got to learn a lot about myself during that period.
MBA from a top-20 B school of the country. It changed my perspective towards many things and I feel that a top institution does make you corporate-ready. During Campus placements, I had lot of opportunities to get into jobs paying around 75k in hand but were dead-end profiles. So I didnt apply for them as I wasnt looking for a job, I was looking for a career (While at the time of my graduation I was ready for a job in a call centre because of my narrow perspective back then. Thank god I listened to my father and went for MBA).
Today, I may not be earning that high but I sure as hell know where I want to go in my Corporate career and how I am gonna get there. And money? Trust me its gonna come if you are good at what you do.
To people reading this: Please understand and appreciate the importance of education, especially higher education.

I am an Indian 27M working as a software engineer in Singapore. Salary 5600 SGDper month ( 2.65 lakh INR).
But wait, do you want to know my first salary? 150 INR per month. During primary school at age of 12 years, I used to work in a cloth store as child labor (after school hours, 2pm to 10pm). I worked in the same cloth store for 6 years and I was making 1200 INR per month at age 18. I scored 76% in 10th standard and took admission in a local science school. One day, the store owner offered me 1800 INR per month if I quit my school and start working for full day. I dropped my school and started working for full time.
A community leader had noticed that I managed to score nicely even though I was working in a cloth store. He came to me and asked why I left school? I said I don't have money to pay for further studies.
He convinced me to continue my study and offered to pay for my high school fees. I left the job, took admission in 11th science again and went to hostel.
I studied seriously for 11th & 12th science and scored well. Now was the time to take admission in engineering. Everybody was taking admission in electronics & communication (EC), so did I. :) It was a private engineering college, not IIT or NIT.
My father was paying for my living expenses and I was getting govt scholarship for my college fees. I found a job to work as a catering staff in marriage/party events. I was making around 3000 INR per month. I was a topper in my college throughout the engineering and I was one of top 100 students in Gujarat Technological University.
After engineering, I didn't find a technical job for 2 months. One of my favorite teacher told me about CDAC. I joined CDAC Pune for a PGD in Embedded Systems.Got placed in a Pune based startup company for 20K per month. I worked in that company for 1.5 years and I then got a job in Singapore.
I am working in Singapore for last 2.5 years and I make around 2.6 lakh per month. I also invest in Indian stock market and make around 20–30k per month from stocks.
Mantra followed??
“If you think you are too big for small jobs, may be you are too small for big jobs.”
Hey there ,
I have started my career with a Big MNC followed by a mid-size and further a small size company. So , in a span of 3 years and 9 months , I have gained from 3.4 lakhs to 13 lakhs per annum.
PS-You can achieve a 110.2 % hike in just a period of 13 months given that you have an out command in the domain . Also, a good switch at the right time proves to be a cherry on top of the icecream .
Drafted a chart for an easy understanding .

Cheers!

Hi, this is the continuation to the answer written on 15 Jul 2017 12:35 PM .
15 LPA. (118K INR in hand)INDIAN - Male(25) - 1.5yrs of exp in IT.
Here, is the link to the 1st part of the answer ( Anonymous' answer to What is your salary in hand? )
Unfortunately, I didn’t saved the link so I am answering the Questions asked in comment section in this way. Forgive me for any inconvenience caused.
Q.1 How I am getting 118K per month in hand salary with 15LPA ?
Ans: I joined this company last month June 2017. This doesn’t include any variable pay and deductions are PF, Gratuity, EPS, PT. I have already done my IT declarations so no deductions at present. However it will be on next year Feb 2018 when I will have to produce docs for the same. (Obviously, I am not going to update my salary breakup here so please don’t ask any more questions related to salary part.) This should suffice you.
Q.2 How I got such a huge package ?
Ans: I won’t deny that I was lucky enough to score it, also I won’t brag about hard work, determination, etc…. etc. (you guys are better in this). So, let me come straight to the point.
My last company was IBM. I worked there as a core developer in C, C++ involved in developing one of the products of IBM. When I was about to leave, I had offers from TOSHIBA and SAMSUNG(Now, you can evaluate my technical knowledge). However, I denied both and joined my present company. I always negotiated over my previous offers to get a better offer.
People are clever to point out my poor academics, not so good college and unemployment. But, didn’t I said that I was good in extracurricular and communication skills ? Leave alone the technical fields, I was good in literary events too….like debate, JAM, extempore, etc. and I have got remarkable convincing skills (not boasting but my near ones says ;) ).
Q.3 Why I chose anonymity ?
Ans: I don’t like to disclose my incomes publicly. Only me and my parents knows about my salary. Non of my friends have any clue about it. However, many of my colleagues from present company are here in Quora and as per the agreements we are not suppose to share any info regarding compensation.
FOOTNOTES:
- There is no golden rule followed in private jobs specifically in IT. Employers will break self created boundaries to hire (if they really want) and also to fire ;) .
- For those looking for guidance, start with Hackerrank (questions are pretty easy) 30 days of Code, then select particular language and start solving.
- Never wait for the moment to feel that you have enough knowledge to crack the interview for a particular company. Just keep on learning and go for interviews. There are hell lot of companies and you need just one of them.
- I will end up with a famous quote coming from one of the Ivy Leagues of Technology.

Job: Business Development Manager
City: Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
2017 yearly earnings (estimated): Approx. 12lakhs (all figures in INR)
It all started from…
2013 package: 2.16 lakhs p.a.
I completed my MBA from a tier-2 city university, got into an average package job. It was year 2013 when i started my career as a marketing associate/business development executive in a small IT company with a package of 2.16 lakhs p.a. My role was focused on only one area: get more business for the company. When i joined, the then sales manager, who was doing well, resigned to venture his own company. We were 3 who joined from campus and were left stranded with no training and no manager to look over us. Each of us then started learning from whatever source we could, learned (well trial and error actually) the marketing tactics, closures, etc. and finally found something working for us after around 4 months. Eventually worked there for around 11 months, when we reliazed that the company is not going to give any incentives which was promised nor any increments, even after above satisfactory performance.
2015 package: 3.16 p.a.
Moved onto another small IT company in year 2015 and package of 2.94 lakhs p.a. Worked my ass off to generate business for the company, got some big, medium, small sized projects. The staff strength increased from 3 (when i joined) to 45 within 2 years.
Also, by end of year 2014, i reliazed that i can start my own IT company if i get the right developers to work under me. So, made some contacts with a couple of budding freelancers who were struggling and offered them a lucrative plan. I knew my potential to get IT projects and just had to convince them to work with me. I offered them 75% of the project value and rest was pocketed by me. They had to accept it considering the value in store for them. A typical project that i could close was of around $2000 - $5000 which would last for around 2-3 months. So, approx. around $1000 to $2500 earnings for both of them.
We struggled a lot. Saw months without any projects, worked for months without any payments, saw months giving refunds to clients because we couldn't deliver. By end of the year, we regrouped everything, changed strategies, hired one more employee (our first employee). Things started moving in the right direction. Obviously we had changed the percentage shares by then.
2016 package: Around 10 lakhs
This was the year when my bank balance started showing 5 figures. At the end of year 2015, my manager (who was also the owner) offered me a profit sharing scheme. I accepted it, who wouldn't. I was entitled to 3% of company's profits.
My own company was working well, making around 1 lakh revenue per month. We decided that for a year, we won't keep anything in profit, lets reward ourselves with all the revenues for the months that we worked without any money. This was a time when i used for around 13-14 hours a day, 8-9 hours in my job and around 4-5 hours in my company. Also, kept my gf happy.
By end of year 2016, i earned 3.6 lakhs from my salary, around 3.9 lakhs from company's profit sharing and around 2.5 lakhs from my own company.
2017 estimated earnings Approx. 12.5 lakhs
Got married (completely sponsored by my earnings), brought a plot, renovated family house and living a dream. The year is going well for both businesses, although overall IT sector is dull. Looking to move into another startup business and expanding my own company.
There is a lot to learn in my career, a lot to experience. But during these 4 years, there is one thing which i felt is the harsh truth. Money does give you confidence, respect and definitely some happiness, if you know where to invest.
But there is one thing that i may not be able to earn, that is my parents' trust on me. Well, that is entirely a different story though.
My advice to you: never stop learning, be it any damn minor skill. You never know, what may change your fortunes one day.

All my friends were living in metro cities and earning near 100K. - Third Company: Small Company 50–100 People, In-hand Salary 32k. (Switched because I was getting married.)

EDIT 1: Thank you all for your up-votes. Updated the experience to Total Experience as many people are getting confused.
EDIT 2: I never though my story can inspire someone. Thank you all for your comments, that means a-lot to me.
Why Anonymous: People are asking me why I choose to be anonymous, just because my many known people are on quora and I don’t want to share my salary to them.
How can I get 100% hike: First of all that is not 100% hike. i.e. 68k to 108k means around 60% hike in in-hand salary. You can get more hike on joining, only thing you need is negotiation skills (you are selected on your technical skills that's why you are negotiating salary ;) ). I was underpaid, and I got offer on another offer. So one can get 100% hike on joining.
How can I start earning at the age of 21: I completed my B.Tech at the age of 21 and got job in a company. From then I am continuously working, so its 7 years. I have total of 7 years of experience not 20+. Please read it again.

Hi,
So I was not feeling tempted to write here but was inspired by people, their hard works , the results ultimately. I am not a big earner here as others have but yes it happened over a course of period.
In my age people earn a lot but me being not that studious and avg student didnt expect much too but yes had an ambition to earn soon. I completed MBA - Marketing in 2010 after spending hge money in Tier III college without an great opportunity for placements. Though got a placement but want willing to relocate from Bengaluru.
I started my career in 2011, in Sales with one insurance company.
Salary - 2 Lakhs Annually

Worked for 5 months and then left. Sales wasnt my forte.
Took a gap or say didnt get proper jobs, though worked in 2 companies in 7 months period in sales, nothing major was there.
Dec 2012 - Mar 2014 - 2nd job
Started a new field of job, Online Marketing. Learned everything from scratch.
Monthly Salary - 12K ( Yes lesser than previous company as I changed my field totally)
My boss was great, a very small company(Agency) worked with 5 people. Joined as SEO Expert.

Worked here for a year.

Hello All ,
I'm 27 year old Male , Engineer from a local college , having 4 year of experience in different fields.
I completed my B.E. in 2009, start working with a local institution as data entry operator ( Salary - ₹3 per entry ) and kept searching for a good job. Unfortunately met with an accident in Feb 2010 and was on bed for 4 months and followed by 3 month physiotherapy sessions.
Then went to Bangalore, and start a struggle. But luck was not in my favor, every company said Sorry now we have 2010 pass-out and you are 2009 pass-out ?
In Bangalore , I heard about CDAC courses and I thought for a fresh start. I worked hard for CDAC entrance exam and got CDAC Bangalore. I worked very hard for next 6 month and again in placement season same issue I faced !! ( You are 2009 pass-out, it's 2012 , why we will hire you ?? ) Finally I was fully frustrated, even once thought for suicide.
But one of my friend helped me and I joined job as a lecturer in an local engineering college of Gujarat. There I worked for 2.5 years and got job in my home town for same salary but a different profile. ( Salary - ₹ 14,000, when I resigned )
So I came back to home town , Was enjoying new job, learning new things , enjoying professional life and I don't know how 1.25 year passed ! Again I got some medical issues, And issue was bit serious (Spinal TB), even the doctors of my city was not able to diagnose my diseases. So I sadly resigned that job and went for a proper medical treatment. My all of savings , bank balance was almost nil.
Now I was in deep trouble , what to do next ?
Finally I got job in a start up, just for ₹6000, Right now my in hand salary is ₹10,000. I am working as a data analyst, improving my skill in field of Data Science , pursuing diploma in statistics and hoping for the best.
Always be optimistic !

Current status - Moving to another startup as Engineering Manager at 60 LPA in a month
Current Salary - 42.3 LPA
Years of experience - Just completed 6.5 years
Stream - Software engineering
Current Designation - Engineering Manager
Credentials - Not a IITian / Not even a well known college at national level
Here is my story -
First Job: Software Test Engineer
Salary : 3.2 LPA,
I started with a medium sized service based company in Pune. Being a fresher I was asked to join as test engineer, however my interest was development. I had no other options, so joined.
Second Job: Software Test Engineer
Salary: started on 7 LPA, Left at 18 LPA in ~2.5 years.
Joined a startup, worked day and night just to learn, coded whatever was needed, did whatever was needed. I was coding with IITians, I was no less that anyone there. This gave me lot of confidence. I was a test engineer there, but I never left any development opportunity and even for test, I automated whatever was possible.
Third Job: Sr. Software Development Engineer
Salary: started at 20 LPA - Left at 25 LPA in ~ 1 year
Joined as a developer, worked at a startup for anything related to engineering.
Fourth Job: Sr. Software Development Engineer
Salary: started at 27 LPA - Currently at 42.3 LPA in ~ 2.5 years
Joined as a sr developer at a startup, now the company is a biggie. Worked on all stacks of the org, built systems from scratch, worked with highly talented people and learnt. Promoted to Engineer Manager and handling a big core piece of org with a team of 15 very talented IITians.
Myntra I followed -
The day I realised, I am better than what I think, I never looked back.
I worked on anything which came in my way. Never said no to anything, learnt form everyone even if it was not my domain. Never gave up, tried multiple times and accomplished the targets. Was always listening and trying to understand everyones perspective. And the last thing - never left reading and implementing.
I hope it helps.
While everyone is speaking highly about their salaries, I sometimes feel like a loser. I guess a huge chunk of Indians can relate to this, who are stuck with a medium paying job and in the hope of being counted as one among the highly paid sections of India.
College: State Govt. Engineering college.
Job: In one of the leading MNCs of India. Termed as the largest IT company of India.
Package: 3.6 lakhs p.a.
My parents speak highly infront of my relatives of their son being placed in an MNC. They are proud of me being associated with a well known brand. But I know my inhand salary will be somewhat approx INR 25,000 to INR 30,000. I will be joining within couple of months too.
I searched for people in answer section with job profile matching mine, but didn't get any till now.
I don't know if I will grow like people here earning in lakhs. But surely got motivated by the people speaking highly about there job. They surely have done emence hard work because success is never gifted easily.
May be one fine day, after some years I will be bragging about my salary too here. :)

Satisfied: Yes, but i am always looking to learn and do something new. Even though I am into hardcore IT now my new passion is Data Science so doing an Executive PG course on Data Science. The reason I am studying again is that I believe in todays world everybody needs to have a dual skill set to sustain yourself and your family if anything were to happen to the current job.
Also, I recommend everyone to learn atleast computer language (C/Java?Python/R anything). I recommend this because the maximum interaction we have today is with our phone or PC/laptop therefore it is only imperative we know a language to directly interact with these devices :) just my logic and point of view let me know if u agree or disagree.

I'm going anonymous because I'm a serving officer with Govt Of India. I'm currently in-charge of a specific trade for the entire south zone which, is the main reason for me going anonymous.
Coming to your question, after passing upsc mains in 2008 and after undergoing various training, I joined the Govt on special requirements towards the end of 2009. I have been promoted once. I believe that salaries of all govt officers occupying various positions is very much an open secret. Nothing to hide in what Govt pays.
With almost 8 years in the Govt, one promotion, I get Rs. 81320 in hand. This, after I pay my taxes, my pf contribution, cut HRA because I live in Govt accommodation and also a few small cuttings which vary.
Apart from this, my travel is always Govt paid. Flights and Trains both. I get free medicals. A fully furnished Govt accommodation for living. A govt car to pick me up from home and drop me to office. Which, btw is a 7 mins drive. :D
I dnt claim reimbursement for my mobile bill even though I'm allowed to. I dnt claim reimbursement for my kid’s tuition fees. I dnt claim reimbursement for relocation when I'm transferred.
Have a good day ahead !!!

I have done my B.Tech in Computer Scinences and Engineering from a Tier 3 engineering college. Only one company came for placements which was a CMMI level 2 company. Entire campus appeared for interviews and only 3 got selected for final round which was after graduation.
The company offered me a package of 2 lakhs and the net salary after all the deductions will be 12,000 rupees which was too low for me. I decided not to join and looked for other oppourtunities. Gave an interview at Dell for the position of technical support. They thought I might have plans for Masters and rejected me. Gave an interview at IBM for technical support and got rejected again because I coughed in Voice and Accent round.
Graduation: Btech Computer Sciences and Engineering. 75% - 2014

Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering
Total Experience: 9 years
Working in: An Oil PSU in India
I presently get about Rs 80,000/- guaranteed in hand per month after all deductions.
Additional other perks are:
- Rs 85,000 yearly for working 6 days a week (compulsorily i have to work 6 days).
- Rs 36,000 yearly for LTC.
- About Rs 70,000-Rs 80,000 bonus yearly (after tax amount).
- Rs 15,000 to buy mobile every 2 years.
- Rs 40,000 to buy PC every 4 years.
- Free accommodation, free electricity and free water.
- Rs 12,000 is deposited to my NPS per month. Rs 10,000 is deposited to my PF account (employer’s share). If you consider my share as well, its Rs 20,000 per month. So NPS+PF accumulation is Rs 32,000 per month which is sufficient for retirement i believe.
Be sure to give an UPVOTE if i have helped answer your question.

1.25 lacs per month
Experience = 2 years
Education = MCA. (No B.tech)
Gap in education = 3 years
Journey =
After MCA, left offer in hand because of something else in mind.
Had to search for job later after 1 year. Got a low paying job. Switched after 1 year for financial reasons.
Got fired in second compny. Again had to look out for job. So much pressure.
I always believed i can achieve good things. Finally. In the end, got this offer. Someone respected talent rather than exploiting a jobless person.
Always believe in yourself whatever others say. Dream big and keep dreaming. And yes work towards your dream.
Try ; Fail; Try again ; Fail Better.
Pardon my english.

15 LPA. (118K INR in hand)
INDIAN - Male(25) - 1.5yrs of exp in IT.
I am working in Bangalore in a reputed product based US MNC and am not from any of the top colleges of India, also I was never good in academics. However, my journey till here was really great.
So, what worked out for me with not so good background ?
Graduated in 2014 in Electrical & Electronics, with hell lot of extra curricular activities as I always had interest in robotics and embedded systems.
Started working in a very small startup(embedded systems) with a salary of 5K INR as a trainee engineer.
Switched in 5 months to another startup(same industry) with a salary of 12K INR. However after 4 months, I wasn’t happy any more, neither in the job, nor with the peoples around me. And, I QUIT.
Appeared for e-LITMUS and AMCAT exams, but didn’t got good interview calls and now it was 3 months + counting in my job seeking phase.
Joined a training institute and improved my C, C++ skills and also learnt Data Structures. In total, now it was 7 months.
I started looking for job with my mere 9 months of work ex and also tried as as fresher. I did crack an interview of a mid-sized MNC for testing profile. Unfortunately, couldn’t clear the final training exam and got terminated in just 15days.
Around, 3 months later got selected in two startups(embedded systems domain) and still today I am waiting for joining letters from both of them.
Now, it was 10 months with a jobless tag and then…..I took one of the best decisions in my life.
I gave up on my field of interest and was open to any sector.
2 months passed and soon after finishing 1 yr of jobless phase I got selected in a service based US MNC with a salary of 5 LPA (36K INR in hand).
Soon after, I started solving problems in Hackerrank, CodeChef and HackerEarth. And just after 9 months in this company I switched to my present company.
What I experienced and learnt ?
No one is going to ask why you have switched so many times in such a short span.
If you have proper technical skills, confidence and good attitude…. You just swiped right! It’s a match….on Naukri (Job) ;)
Even though any HR asks, serve a plate of reasons (which seems genuine) and let them choose what they like. You just need to have good communication skills to manipulate the situation.
The decision I took, might seem that I narrowed my interest but on the other side of coin it actually broadened my opportunity basket.
P.S: Just 1 year ago from today I was jobless, reading answers on Quora about how people are able to crack interviews of tier 1 tech companies in the world. Today, I am answering about the same.
Really……future is uncertain. ;)

M36 Currently working in Singapore.
Total Experience: 12 Years
Industry: Electronics
Role: Solution sales/ Business Development
Qualification: Master Degree in Statistics/ MBA International Business
I can see all Indian guys are replying here and most of the salary described here in INR ( Indian Rupee). Too much calculation involved for Quorans outside India to understand the growth of an Indian guy. So here is my 2 cents to offer.
Long story short, started with a German MNC in India as a marketing trainee:
Salary: 1800 USD/ Year. ( 2005).
Changed jobs 4 times in between for career growth in India. Posted also in Europe for 1 year as Product marketeer for ASEAN.
Currently working with Japanese MNC in Singapore as Solution sales consultant:
Current Salary: 50,000 ++ USD/ Year ( 2017).
I work 40 hours a week. Overtime paid if I have to work over 40 hours a week. Business trip to India in every second month (India is under my sales region).
Just know your job, keep learning new skills, be honest and grow happily.
However, Salary is not a measure of your success but happiness is.
Be Happy and Thanks for reading.

I had 10 backlogs in my Bachelor of Technology degree.
It was during my 3rd year when for some reason(fake case) I couldn't take the semester examinations. And so I got failed in 10 out of 11 semester exams.
I can remember, our TPO ( Training and Placement Officer) had let me try my hands during the campus recruitment.
And for my good I was one of the two candidates who cleared the technical round in my entire college. But I couldn't make it to end my way. I got rejected in the subsequent round.
Next time, again I cleared the first round easily but failed in second.
And then came a change in my life. Our TPO changed, and now this new TPO won't let me sit in the placement drives.
I couldn't attend any placement drive after that.
But wait, I had been interning in a company and after completion of my degree they offered me a job. I was signed for 22k per month.(July)
After a month, that company shut down for some reason. And the founder of that company made me join another company in August. The pay was same in the new company viz 22k per month.
But for the first two months, I was working on invoice ( as service). And in the first two months I received 19,800 each month.
After the successful completion of two months I received the offer letter with the same pay of 22k in December. I was getting around 19.3k in hand.
After that I got a hike in January. And my salary got increased to 27k. This time my in hand salary went up to 23.6k.
Then again jn May, I got another hike and my salary got increased to 37k. And my in hand salary was 33.4k.
Now in the next month, it'll be my work anniversary in this company.
